About Us
For more than a century, Trinacria has provided Baltimore with excellent food at a great value. A family tradition for three generations, we take pride in treating customers like family, and ensuring that everyone who comes through our doors gets excellent service and delicious foods at the low prices we're known for.
When Vincent Fava and his partner went into business in 1908, Trinacria was a bakery. The men baked and delivered fresh bread each day. After several successful years of baking, they decided to make a change and began preparing pastas and other groceries. The years came and went, and the business - known locally as the Macaroni Works - was passed down to sons Salvatore, Vincent and Joseph, and today is owned by grandson Vince Fava.
Vince has taken Trinacria to a new level, and the shop now boasts a great selection of deli meats and cheeses, gourmet and imported groceries, wines and more. Many items - including bread and sausages - are still made fresh in the shop each day. Their famous sandwich counter has developed a devoted following, and is known throughout the area for its generous and delicious offerings.
Our Name
Trinacria means "triangle," and is another name for Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and historically an important part of the Mediterranean trade routes. The Trinacria symbol is a three-pointed star of bent legs symbolizing the three points of the island itself, and includes the head of Medusa and three wheat ears.
